“I had told Grant ever since we got engaged that I have been ready for the marriage for a while, but didn’t know if I was cut out for the wedding planning. Really just all the attention on us all day is so overwhelming to think about, but we took on the task! 🙂 Wedding planning wasn’t as scary as i thought it would be. We have known a lot of people that have gotten married over the last couple of years and were so generous with lending us decorations and advice. I tend to be somewhat of a control freak so it was hard for me to give up tasks to Grant, but he was in charge of all of the music and I would say he knocked it out of that park! Otherwise our parents, siblings, and bridal party were a huge help throughout the whole process. My mom is a graphic designer so she was able to hook us up with the BEST invites and signage for all of our decorations so we were so grateful for that! Overall we really leaned on so many peoples advice and expertise and the day could not have turned out better!” – Shannon

Tell us about how you two met!

We met at a friends lake cabin when we were in high school, chatted on MSN messenger (pre cell phones :)), we started dating in October of 2007, and then to the date in October of 2017 Grant proposed while we were on a trip in Willamette Valley, Oregon. We had a tiny little cabin at the top of a hill on a vineyard. We were playing board games, listening to music, drinking red wine, and sitting by the fire. It was PERFECT!

What surprised you during the whole wedding planning process?

How amazing and supportive everyone in our life has been throughout the whole process. Our friends and family have been so generous throughout the whole last year and it has been incredible to feel the love! We were so excited for the day to come, and it’s really something special to see how excited everyone was for us as well.

What was one of the most memorable moments from the wedding day?

At one point during the dance we just went up to the balcony to see everyone dancing and singing along with the band and it was really awesome to soak it all in. It is a really amazing thing to have so many of the people you love all in one place!
